OMICRON XE



 After Gujarat, Covid XE variant in Mumbai too

Mumbai: The XE variant of Covid has been confirmed in Mumbai as well.  This is hours after the first case was reported in Gujarat.

The XE variant was first confirmed by a 67-year-old Mumbai resident who was traveling to Vadodara.

 XE is an integrated version of Omicron's sub - variants BA.1 and BA.2.  It is estimated that the XE has 10% more diffusion capacity than the BA.2 variant of the Omicon.

 Earlier in Mumbai, there were reports that the XE variant had been confirmed.  However, the news was denied by the Ministry of Health.
Omicron XE was first reported in the world in the UK.  The first XE case was confirmed in the UK on January 19, the UK Health Agency reported.

 The new variant was discovered in 637 people.  The World Health  Organization (WHO) has said it is conducting a detailed study of the virus.
